Course Details

Objectives : The aim of this professional license is to train geomatics cartographers specializing in the environment, in rural areas or in the mountains. At the crossroads of geography and IT, the geomatics specialist uses all the data related to a geographical space. It operates in all sectors that need data representation, spatial analysis: town planning, environment, transport, energy, marketing, tourism.
This essentially technical training introduces you to a wide range of computer tools, such as ArcGis, QGis, GRASS, Geoconcept, Illustrator, Inkscape, Autocad, PostGis, Wamp, Modalisa, the MySQL and Python language and other free or free tools. The acquisition of general and theoretical knowledge is carried out on the basis of concrete case studies (studies of landscapes, risks, climate, etc.) with references to current public policies, data law - INSPIRE directive, etc. Several outings enhance the lessons to meet the territories, landscapes, public and professional actors. The geomatics specialist will learn to find their way around mid-mountain, to carry out GPS readings, to extract from the terrain all relevant information to analyze and map.

Acquired skills during the training : At the end of this Professional License, graduates will be competent to:

- Identify socio-economic and environmental issues in rural areas or in the mountains
- Communicate geographic data once collected, structured and represented, for one actor, or several actors
- Develop plans and edition maps
- Conduct surveys aimed at identifying the needs and challenges of the territory
- Identify the risks and tourist activities in the mountains
- Process and analyze geographic information with computer tools
- Participate in the production of urban plans and a webcast

Targeted careers : environment, regional and town planning sector, agricultural or forestry organization, local and regional authorities, environmental studies office, regional and national natural parks, water agencies, transport companies.
