Master Cartographie des Espaces à Risques (CER)

Course Details

Objectives : The Master in "Geography, Planning, Environment and Development" pursues a double objective:

* train students in the planning and development professions and in the research professions in geography and planning;

* support students in building their professional path towards differentiated territorial and methodological fields relating to professional skills and opportunities (including research) specific to each path.

The "Mapping of Risky Areas" (CER) course, carried by IGARUN in partnership with the Sciences and Techniques UFR, trains specialists in the analysis and spatial representation of risks using methodologies for digital processing of the risk. geographic information on the one hand, and on the other hand, spatialized approaches to the management of high-risk areas, both natural and man-made. It allows the acquisition of a dual skill, thematic and methodological.

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Acquired skills during the training : The objective of the Master is the acquisition of a dual competence, thematic and methodological:
• scientific and methodological support to communities and various organizations in the fields of geomatics: cartography, GIS, database management, webmapping, remote sensing, applied to the development and management of highly anthropized and risky areas;
• risk assessment: vulnerability assessment, contribution to the implementation of risk prevention plans;
• production of study and research reports based on environmental programs or institutional guidelines;
• planning of the stages of a project: design of protocols and experiments to be carried out, carrying out field surveys and data collection, design and structuring of databases, processing and use of information, formatting and reporting of results

Targeted careers : The sectors targeted by this training are design offices, public establishments, state services, local authorities, the voluntary sector, research and teaching organizations.
The types of jobs are diverse:
• research engineer specializing in environmental diagnostics and planning (research, mission, etc.);
• project manager in design offices, mixed economy planning, territorial development or environmental monitoring companies;
• geomatics engineer;
• research engineer, teacher-researcher or researcher (this master gives access to the pursuit of doctoral studies).

Notes : The Master in Geography, Planning, Environment and Development offers two other courses

- The course "Geography and Planning of Maritime Areas" (GAEM) trains specialists in the territorial management of coastal and maritime areas, around a very wide range of issues (management of sectors, coastal urbanization, coastal erosion, preservation of the environment, consultation, planning, prospective, etc.);

- The course "Societies, Planning and Governance of Territories" (SAGt) trains specialists in the engineering and animation of local development and sustainable development in transversal analysis both in the field of research and in the field of planning studies and the conduct of territorial public policies.
