Objectives : Provide training in aeronautical and space physiology and medicine, particularly with regard to the body's reactions to the constraints of this environment (reduction of barometric pressure at altitude, accelerations, vibrations, microgravity, spatial disorientation, thermal stress, etc. ), as well as the means of protection (oxygen inhalation systems, stratospheric and space equipment, pressurized and sealed cabins, denitrogenation, anti-g clothing, immersion clothing, etc.). On a practical level, the consequences of these constraints on pre-existing pathologies as well as the conditions of medical aptitude for piloting aircraft, defined by European authorities, are studied in all specialties (cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrinological, renal, digestive, neurological, psychological, gynecological, urological, dermatological, orthopedic, ENT, ophthalmological). As well as general knowledge of the aeronautics and space environment.
Public concerned : Bac+9 - Doctor of medicine
Targeted careers : In order to comply with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the European Agency for Safety in Aviation (EASEA), the Aerospace Medicine Capability is required by the Ministry of Transport (General Directorate of Civil Aviation) to grant approval to doctors who carry out medical examinations of professional flight personnel in Centers of Medical Expertise, or to independent practitioners who carry out medical examinations of non-professional flight personnel (private pilots).
