Objectives : The Mathematical Engineering and Data Science Department trains specialized engineers:
in Data Science and Big Data
in digital engineering and artificial intelligence
Data science is at the crossroads of mathematics, statistics, artificial intelligence and computer science. Its purpose is to extract value from data. With the advent of Big Data, companies have amassed huge amounts of information that they are now trying to exploit (clean, aggregate and analyze) to be able to offer more appropriate services to their customers, solve problems or even to take decisions. The demand for engineers specializing in Data Science is currently very strong in sectors of activity such as banking, insurance, large industrial companies, the health sector, sports, etc.
Engineers specializing in numerical simulation must be able to model and simulate various phenomena (climate, performance of tires according to their physical characteristics) using techniques derived from traditional scientific calculation (partial differential equations) or artificial intelligence (machine learning). The opportunities are numerous: companies in the energy sector, large industrial companies...
Engineers trained by our department with various skills (mathematics, statistics, artificial intelligence, IT, etc.) can also work in other sectors of activity such as digital service companies (ESN).
